Happy 101st Anniversary to International Women's Day! Also, did you know that March is Women's History Month? International Women's Day (IWD), originally coined International Working Women’s Day, is marked on March 8th every year. The UN theme for International Women’s Day 2012 is "Empower Women – End Hunger and Poverty." In many countries, International Women's Day is an occasion to honor and praise women for their accomplishments. In 2012, Oxfam America is inviting people to celebrate inspiring women in their lives by sending a free International Women’s Day e-Card or honoring a woman whose efforts make a difference in the fight against hunger and poverty with Oxfam’s International Women’s Day award. International Women's Day is an annual day observed in many nations around the world on March 8 each year. (Jumping Woman photo above by kongsky / freedigitalphotos.net)
President Barack Obama proclaimed March 2011 to be "Women's History Month", calling Americans to mark IWD by reflecting on "the extraordinary accomplishments of women" in shaping the country's history. Also, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton launched the "100 Women Initiative: Empowering Women and Girls through International Exchanges", on the eve of IWD.

Today is 8th March - The day of women empowerment, the revolutionary forces that began to rise in women society which lead to the change in the views of society, and the strict deny to the domination system of men.
ReplyDeleteThis day we have the power to show what women can do, when they rise against the narrow view of society.
It has been almost a century, that we have been celebrating women's day, and there are certainly some remarkable changes made in the society in the respect of woman's role in the society and the ignorance of domination system of males.
ReplyDeleteWe must respect the importance of this day, and celebrate by remembering the woman who fought for their justice.
I feel so honored in this day - The Women's Day, at-least people have acknowledged the women's power, and the effort they can put and the power they have in the society which can influence any certain major decision which shape the curving's of good's and bad's. Proud to be a women :)
ReplyDeleteWe should happily celebrate this day and be glad to the success in the celebration of women's empowerment in the field of opportunities, professionalism and the contribution to the society. This dominating system has been declining, thanks to the movement of woman liberty :))
ReplyDeleteWomen's day - 8th March, the one we should not forget to celebrate, as it came with many cost of efforts and wide-span liberty movement carried out by our ancestors, let's all give it a time to celebrate and make a step towards opposing the domination system of our society.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely great, I feel so glad that women's are being empowered to make them contribute our society and stop this shitty dominating system, the women's day reminds us the struggle the women have been making to be a part of the wide-narrow scope of society. This day gives us the will to continue the support in women's movement.
ReplyDeleteWow.. It has been 101 year, since the start of struggling woman's liberty movement which all came with a spiritual dignity of the women's who were been dominated by the society. Thinking about the past really makes us feel so sad about the nature of society, I am glad that the narrow view of society do not exist anymore, thanks to the movement of Woman's liberty.
ReplyDeleteGreat to see that, there are plenty of people who care for this day, and know that this day is really an important day for women's who have been fighting for their right accepting the wide span criticism from all around. Salute to the women who really made this struggle a success, and the men who helped and supported this movement and the Women's day..
ReplyDeleteHappy Woman’s Day! Somehow I feel that it is kinda sexist for women to celebrate their own day. I wonder why. Can anyone tell me why this day exists in the first place? Do we have Men’s Day as well?
ReplyDeleteIt’s not sexist for women to celebrate Woman’s Day. Women are always labeled as weaker gender and in some countries; they don’t even have human basic rights. The day exists to review how far they have come in their struggle for equality, peace and development.
ReplyDeleteIt’s a shame to know that there are still many questioning why the day exists in the first place. According to studies, every one-percentile growth in female secondary schooling results in a 0.3 percent growth in the economy. So women’s equality not only benefits women but it can also benefits the whole country.
ReplyDeleteI generally support the idea of equality but it seems that the idea is getting out of the way. Women nowadays are still using their beauty to get what they want from men. I wonder if this is the equality that they dream of.
ReplyDeleteIt’s a good spirit and I fully support the whole idea about women’s right as well as human’s right. I can see a lot of improvement in the recent decades. Women are getting education and proper rights. I hope it will get better in future. We need more mothers to care for us and our country.
ReplyDeleteHowever, no matter how many efforts that had been done, I still believe that nowhere in the world can women claim to have all the same rights and opportunities as men. I can only hope and pray so that women will not continue to become victims of violence and abuse anymore.
