One of the great moments at the Matrix Awards for me is when I get opportunities to ask my "Question of the Day." I try my best to get as many answers as I can. This year's Matrix Q of the Day had to do with advice. Something we all seem to get when we don't want it and all seem to lack when we need it most. I was so delighted to have opportunities to be close up to Peggy Noonan, Barbara Walters, Zenia Mucha, Susan Werner, Laura Desmond, and Maria Cuomo Cole, etc. They all graciously answered my Q of the day! Thanks again to all!
"What is the single most important advice you would give to young girls starting out about dealing with sexism?”
"Ignore it! It is a wild duck yapping at your ankles. Flick it away!"
~~ Peggy Noonan, Matrix Honoree, 2012
American author of eight best-selling books on politics, religion, and culture and a weekly columnist for The Wall Street Journal.
"Well you know women are 51% of the world. Rely on your own talent and inherent wisdom of the majority, and you will be just fine!"
~~ Susan Werner
American singer-songwriter. Presenter at Matrix to Honoree Laura Desmond.
"Learn how to be a Zenia!"
~~ Barbara Walters
ABC News correspondent; "The Barbara Walters Specials"; Creator, Co-Host and Executive Producer of ABC Daytime's "The View."
"You know, you just got to work hard always and never let anything set you back. Just have a goal and go for it!"
~~ Zenia Mucha, Matrix Honoree, 2012
Executive Vice President, Chief Communications Officer of The Walt Disney Company.
"Ohm, if you're smart, if you have a positive attitude, if you work in a company or a business that celebrates diversity, you can be whatever you want to be. And truthfully, if you don't work in a company or an industry that celebrates diversity and you aren't surrounded by people who support you then get out and go somewhere else where you can be. Thank you!"
~~ Laura Desmond, Matrix Honoree, 2012
Global CEO of Starcom MediaVest Group.
"Stay true to your instincts and be yourself!"
~~ Maria Cuomo Cole, Matrix Honoree, 2012
Film Producer and Chairman of HELP USA.

Very interesting and provocative post here. I really liked Peggy Noonan’s answer and my advice would be along that line, ignore it. I must admit though, no one in my family ever discussed the topic of sexism in the workplace, I learned all that from friends and the best advice I received was from my teachers at school who encouraged all of us to value and celebrate diversity.
