“It’s great. The turnout is unbelievable. So many more people than we expected to come see what is Congo ... It’s about artists, it’s about intellectuals, it's about different and interesting parts of the world. We have all come together as Africans, and we want peace in our country. All the youths coming together. The fashion, the designers of the fashion show event are all from Congo. So it’s really Congo, the girls, the mission of Congo and positiveness.”

Happy B-Day Doris Kearns Goodwin: Hoorah you've reached the big 070

“When I got married and had my kids I was at that time still teaching. I realized I couldn’t be a professor and write and be a mother at the same time. So I decided to give up being a professor even though that was my identity for over 10 years. I decided to take a risk to write and that turned out being the right decision. But it really meant that I could write and be with the kids.”
~~ Doris Kearns Goodwin Pulitzer Prize-winning American biographer, acclaimed historian and renown political commentator; As quoted on April 19, 2010 while answering the allthingsdigitalmarketing.com question of the day at The 40th Annual Matrix Awards 2010 in New York City -- "What was the most important decision you have ever made and why?"

Happy B-Day to Doris Kearns Goodwin, Pulitzer Prize-winning American biographer, acclaimed historian, and popular political commentator. She has written biographies of several U.S. Presidents, including Lyndon Johnson and the American Dream; The Fitzgeralds and the Kennedys: An American Saga; No Ordinary Time: Franklin and Eleanor Roosevelt (which won the Pulitzer Prize for History in 1995); and her most recent book, Team of Rivals: The Political Genius of Abraham Lincoln.

Born in Brooklyn, New York, the daughter of Helen Witt (née Miller) and Michael Francis Aloysius Kearns, Kearns grew up in Rockville Centre, New York. She attended Colby College in Maine, where she was a member of Tri Delta and Phi Beta Kappa and graduated magna cum laude in 1964 with a Bachelor of Arts degree. She was awarded a Woodrow Wilson Fellowship in 1964 to pursue doctoral studies. In 1968 she earned a Ph.D. in government from Harvard University, with a thesis entitled "Prayer and Reapportionment: an Analysis of the Relationship between the Congress and the Court.”

In 1967, during the Lyndon B. Johnson administration, Kearns went to Washington, D.C., as a White House Fellow. Johnson offered Kearns a job as his assistant, even after an article by Kearns appeared in The New Republic laying out a scenario for Johnson's removal from office over his conduct of the war in Vietnam, the offer was not withdrawn.

After Johnson left office in 1969, Kearns taught government at Harvard for ten years, including a course on the American presidency. During this period she also assisted Johnson in drafting his memoirs. Her first book, Lyndon Johnson and the American Dream, which drew upon her conversations with the late president, was published in 1977. It became a New York Times bestseller and provided a launching pad for her literary career.

Interesting trivia about Goodwin was that sometime in 1993 - 1994 she became the first female journalist to enter the Boston Red Sox locker room. She consulted on and appeared in Ken Burns's 1994 documentary, Baseball.

Goodwin won the Pulitzer Prize in 1995 for No Ordinary Time: Franklin and Eleanor Roosevelt: The American Homefront During World War II.

Goodwin is currently working on her next book which will be about Theodore Roosevelt, focusing on his relationship with William Howard Taft, the election of 1912 and the muckraking journalism of the Progressive era.

Stephen King met with Goodwin while he was writing his novel 11/22/63, due to her being an assistant to Johnson, and King used some of her ideas in the novel on what a worst-case scenario would be like if history had changed.

Matt Lauer, reaches the BIG 055 on December 30th: Happy Birthday to you!

" We fine broadcasters for using four-letter words, we say that's offensive. So is it offensive to call for the assassination of a world leader? "
~~ Matt Lauer

American television journalist best known as the host of NBC's The Today Show since 1996

According to many in the NYC streets, Matt Lauer has been naughty to his former co-anchor, Ann Curry. But that doesn't mean we shouldn't celebrate his big 055 Birthday! Happy 55th birthday to Matt Lauer, American television journalist best known as the host of NBC's The Today Show since 1996. Born Matthew Todd "Matt" Lauer in New York City, (December 30, 1957) to Marilyn Kolmer, a boutique owner, and Jay Robert Lauer, a bicycle-company executive. His parents divorced during his youth, and his father died in 1997.

Lauer was married from 1982 until 1989 to a television producer named Nancy Alspaugh. The marriage ended in divorce. From 1989 until 1996, he dated Kristen Gesswein, a television newscaster. They were briefly engaged.

In 1998, he married Annette Roque, a Dutch model known as "Jade." During Roque's pregnancy with their third child in 2006, she and Lauer separated. Although Roque filed for divorce in Manhattan Supreme Court on September 13, 2006, the couple subsequently reconciled.

Lauer became co-host of The Today Show replacing longtime host Bryant Gumbel in early 1997. Prior to that he was a news anchor in New York City and a local talk-show host in Boston, Philadelphia, Providence and Richmond.

"We fire broadcasters for wearing flats with colorful clothes and for having gray hair, we say that's offensive. So would it be offensive to ask Matt Lauer to wear multi-colored, leopard platform stilettos?"
~~ Gloria Buono-Daly
American blogger, AllThingsDigitalMarketing.com founder, responsible for photo-editing this wikimedia photo (above left) of Lauer in stilettos.

On the April 5, 2012 program, Lauer announced he had come to terms on a new contract with NBC News that will reportedly pay $25 million annually.
Do you think Lauer should walk a mile in Curry's shoes? Just think of the places he'll go (if he doesn't trip) and of how stiletto-high the Today ratings would go?

On June 28, 2012, Matt Lauer's then co-host Ann Curry, announced her controversial departure from the today show and it was reported that Matt Lauer was 100 percent behind Ann Curry's ousting. Also it was widely rumored that he fathered a child with Today show coworker, Natalie Morales.
